From July 20-22, 2000, the bi-annual conference for psychoanalytic history sponsored by the International Association for the History of Psychoanalysis (IAHP) took place in Versailles, France. Its topic was ‘Evolution of Psychoanalytic Technique’ and the organizers were Alain de Mijolla, president and founder of the IAHP, and Harold Blum, director of the Freud Archive in New York. Plenary speakers on the first day included Daniel Widlöcher, Otto Kernberg and Horatio Etchegoyen, the president-elect, the current president, and immediate past-president of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). Most other speakers were prominent members of the IPA. For the first time the IAAP participated as one of the sponsors, and therefore Jungians were allotted more time on the official programme than previously.
