‘The Bi-Personal Field’ helped restore my faith in the healing power of analytic work. Despite its unappealing title, it is an immensely readable, stimulating book, packed with complex ideas presented in a way that makes them easy to absorb. Antonino Ferro is President of the Milanese Centre of Psychoanalysis and was Visiting Professor of Child Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis at Milan University. His work has been widely published in both English and Italian. Although the clinical material focuses on the analysis of children, I would largely agree with Ferro when he says he does not feel that there is anything particular to the analysis of children that would lead to thinking that there are writers and problems specific to child analysis only.
