As the arts editor for the JAP, I am soliciting papers for a new section of the Journal that will publish articles that engage with contemporary culture and cinema while referring to the interpretive framework of analytical psychology and psychoanalytic discourse.
Authors interested in contributing to the Culture and Film section are encouraged to contribute film essays that explore the clinical themes of contemporary psychoanalysis/analytical psychology as they emerge in filmic representation. Film essays should maintain a strong analytic focus, elucidating aspects of Jungian clinical practice and theory and referring where relevant to clinical case studies. Film essays can take as their subject both classic and contemporary films, and international contributions are welcomed.
Non-clinicians, for example cinema historians and theorists are welcome to contribute articles to the Culture and Film section upon the understanding that the editor will commission a clinical response to a paper that is theoretical or thematic in orientation.
Papers submitted to the Culture and Film section should be in the region of 500 − 2000 words. All papers will be subject to peer review. Film review essays should be submitted in Word document format to
The Culture and Film section will launch in February 2015.
Please direct any questions that you may have regarding your paper's suitability for inclusion in the Culture and Film section to the JAP Managing Editor at
