It is both an honour and a pleasure to introduce the Journal's new bi-annual ‘Clinical Commentaries’ series. In the spirit of celebrating the diverse cultural and clinical perspectives from Jungian practitioners worldwide, the Commentaries feature stimulating and timely clinical vignettes that we hope will spark your reverie and imagination. Each case vignette is followed by commentary from three analysts who, in a spirit of curiosity and collegiality, share their associations and impressions.
We invite the submission of clinical material that conveys individual, cultural and collective issues alike. Respondents will be invited to share their experience of that material as informed by their own reverie, countertransference, active imagination and free association.
In order to ensure confidentiality for both the patient and the contributing analyst, all case material remains fully anonymous to both readers and respondents and the identity of the contributing analyst is known only to the Journal's senior editorial staff. Respondents' names are listed following their commentaries, along with their clinical orientation and group affiliation.
We wish to thank Marcus West for originating the idea of a Clinical Commentaries series and to Nora Swan-Foster for the invitation to participate in this new feature of the Journal.
And finally, we wish to express our deep appreciation to the analyst who offered the inaugural case vignette for this series. It reflects a special kind of generosity and courage to put forward clinical material in this context. We would also like to extend our gratitude to the three analyst respondents who kindly offered their impressions without hesitation.
