This is the second volume of our two editions dedicated to the Journal's landmark Latin American conference, held online in April 2021. There are too many papers to go through in detail here in the editorial, but I trust the papers will give you an idea of the depth, breadth and richness of thinking that was inspired by Volume 10 of Jung's Collected Works, Civilization in Transition, which lent the conference its title and theme.
The papers in these volumes have been organized simply according to when they were received for publication and are listed in alphabetical order by author. However, I will mention that the keynote speech of the conference, given by Iraci Galiás, is included in this volume. Her paper, ‘Marital betrayal, culture and prejudice’, explores our expectations and prejudices around fidelity. Her presentation set the tone for the conference in a fascinating, lively, and challenging manner, demonstrating how beliefs and attitudes are embedded in culture, and asking how well that reflects and articulates with the reality and needs of human beings, in the subtlety and complexity of being human.
A number of presentations given at the conference have not been able to be published, either because of issues related to confidentiality or permission, or because they have been published elsewhere.
