The following case offers a compelling account of analytic work with a young adult who enters analysis in a state of crisis. Together with the analyst, we initially meet the patient—quite literally in the dark—during a significant time in her individual development, while confronted by the violence to which young women are subject in contemporary culture. The analyst sensitively portrays the unique aspects of working with a younger patient population than is traditionally represented in Jungian literature, and highlights the complex dynamics raised by analytic partners who are trilingual. The four commentaries provide a rich diversity of clinical perspectives and reflective emphasis, generously presented.
