This book is meant as a companion volume to a previous work by the same authors, The Scientific Credibility of Freud's Theories and Therapy . In their previous work the authors presented a detailed discussion of the available empirical evidence which has or has not substantiated Freud's most influential ideas. The current volume is a selection of readings which brings together the original sources and studies that had been scattered in diverse journals and were utilized as the empirical base for the initial work.
