Dr. Meadow: I want to thank Dr. Schwartz for helping me to realize the degree to which modern analysis, at least, has incorporated Jungian thought. We need more contact with each other to realize how close our theories have moved. This is a logical result of thinking and working with patients and trying to learn the whole truth about them. We don't notice how similar we are in our thinking on energy distribution, symbolic thinking, and the pre-verbal period. Most of our ideas come while we're with patients and everything is experienced as a new emotional discovery. It's not easy when working with pre-verbal conflicts to think beyond our discoveries within the sessions and to the work of our colleagues.
