I once made the acquaintance of a young woman whom I was very eager to impress. So I tried to think of what I had that I could impress her with.
And I came up with a joke. Which I had learned as a child, from my father.
A man walks into a restaurant with a banana in his ear.
The waiter calls out: “Sir! You have a banana in your ear!”
The man keeps on walking.
The waiter gestures: “Sir! There's a banana in your ear!”
The man stops, looks at the waiter: “What's that?”
“YOU HAVE A BANANA IN YOUR EAR!
The man says, “I'm sorry; I can't hear you. I have a banana in my ear.”
She laughed. And then she said—and these are her exact words—she said: “You know, I think that's the first joke I've ever heard in my whole life that wasn't—dirty!”
