This paper addresses a few issues which gained theoretical and clinical significance in today's psychoanalysis. It raises the question as to the recoverability of the infant's preverbal world, or of the accessibility of deeply unconscious dynamic factors. Other comments refer to the nonverbal communications and to the requirement to differentiate affect from drive derivations, while they are closely linked to each other. Meadow's (2000) paper reaches toward a developmental dimension, the continuous transformation of earlier conflicts, and thereby allows a technical approach to modify later conflicts, based on earlier configuration at various developmental stages.
