The author concurs with the analysis of human violence presented by Scheper-Hughes (2003) and cites various philosophers, sociologists, and social critics whose thinking supports and expands upon Scheper-Hughes's insights and observations. Commenting on Meadow's (2003) paper, the author argues that an aggressive drive may explain individual acts of violence, but it falls short of providing an adequate explanation for human social violence.
