Three of the most popular ways that women seek revenge are by suffering, by seduction, and by repeating in unconscious identification. The author presents clinical examples of aggressive suffering by two women, one very rich and one very poor, as well as the example of a beautiful dancer who got even by seducing the analyst and breaking her heart. Finally, the author describes a particularly malevolent case of revenge carried out in a women's group using repetition and unconscious identification with a cruel father. All three of these methods have major drawbacks. The author concludes with a brief description of some more constructive ways of getting even.
