This paper considers intuitive processes as they relate to how analysts listen to patients and how intuition may inform some of our emotional communication interventions. It suggests that we train ourselves and our students and supervisees to be attuned to unconscious communications that emanate from all strata of cortical areas including the most primitive. Case vignettes drawn from clinical practice and classroom presentations that describe interventions formed by intuition or unknown experience are presented and offer a way to understand such experience as a means to resonate with the patients we treat.
