The tasks of the therapist in group therapy with children are discussed on the levels of comprehension of the developmental norms and emotionality of children, the understanding of the dynamic uniqueness of individual group members, the capacity to deal with the group as an entity in terms of recognizing group themes, group and subgroup resistance, and the need for self-awareness in dealing with the feelings induced in the group therapist by the group. Material illustrative of these parameters is presented.
