This paper describes a transference dynamic that arose in an adolescent girls therapy group that involved a group member's fear of having become pregnant and countertransference panic this induced in the group therapist and in the supervisor. It elucidates the process through which the supervisor analyzed the countertransference and eventually formulated an emotional communication that resolved the transference dynamic. The article also discusses the value of group supervision in cases in which the therapist and the supervisor cannot determine the curative emotional communication.
