The influence of Hungarian psychoanalysts on Hyman Spotnitz is studied from three points of view: The personal and professional effect of his analyst, Lillian Delger Powers, and his supervisors, Sandor Rado and Sandor Lorand, all of whom had close associations with both Sigmund Freud and Sandor Ferenczi; the theoretical and clinical effect of others such as Margaret Mahler, Franz Alexander, and Melanie Klein, who had been influenced by Ferenczi; and a comparison of Spotnitz and Ferenczi in terms of their personal and professional orientations.
