It has been an honor to serve as the editor of Modern Psychoanalysis, following in the footsteps of Phyllis Meadow and June Bernstein. It was Meadow's vision that gave birth to the journal in 1976 and Bernstein's dedication that sustained that vision. I owe a debt of gratitude to each of them for their guidance and encouragement during their lifetimes.
This issue has been co-edited by William J. Hurst and me. I will now step aside, and beginning with the next issue it will be Dr. Hurst, who is a psychoanalyst, writer, and philosopher, whose professional expertise and depth of erudition will ensure the journal's continuance and flourishing, presenting the ideas that modern psychoanalysts develop as they do their clinical work.
