In summer 2000 some of us had the opportunity to be present in London at the First International Neuro-Psychoanalysis Congress. That it was the winds of history that we felt blowing against our temples no one could miss. It was the inauguration of a new era and the ralization of an old dream. An International Neuro Psychoanalysis Society was established at the meeting in London and a provisional governing committee was elected. Henceforth, therefore, the Regional Bulletins section of this journal will be transformed into a bulletin for the newly formed International Society and Neuro-Psychoanalysis will become its official organ.
In this issue of the Bulletin, in addition to the usual regional reports, we include two reports on the congress itself: reprinted from the British Psycho-Analytical Society Bulletin and The American Psychoanalyst (see also Douglas Watt's closing address to the congress, this issue).
Following the Congress, many new study groups are in the process of being formed. The reports of some of them appear in this issue of Neuro-Psychoanalysis. The provisional governing committee of the Society wants to remain apprised of the interests, activities, and aspirations of the different groupings around the world. I therefore now ask readers to send me not only regular reports—if you plan to start a study or research group or already have one up and running—but also to let me know who will act as each group's representative to the Society. The designated representative will receive all communications from the interim govering committee of the Society, via me, as well as being asked to inform the committee of the responses and wishes of their group (e.g., concerning subjects to be dealt with at forthcoming congresses). As before, I urge all readers to contact me.
