Neuroscience/Psychoanalysis Group of Sao Paulo is changing its name to Neuro-Psychoanalysis Study and Research Center of Sao Paulo. The reason for this change is that we are becoming an official institution for research and neuropsychoanalytical clinical work. This will make it possible to receive financial support from the government and other institutions in order to promote and maintain future research projects. We have several current projects:
The organization of scientific events and conferences in Brazil with the participation of leading neuroscientists and psychoanalysts, such as Damasio, Panksepp, Edelman, Watts, Solms, Shevrin, and others.
On August 8th the Center inaugurated an introductory course in neuropsychoanalysis for psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists. It ended on November 15, 2000.
We also participated in a panel on neuroscience and psychoanalysis that took place in connection with the exhibitions: “Freud: Conflict and Culture” and “Brazil: Psychoanalysis and Modernity,” organized by the Brazilian Psychoanalytic Society in Sao Paulo, November 2000.
