During 2002 the study group has continued to study neuroscientific and neuropsychoanalytic works, in order to collect more knowledge and competence in the field.
Dr. Lucia Salvia Coelho, PhD, member of our Center, is co-participating with Dr. Alvaro Cebrian de Almeida Magalhães, PhD, at the Neuro-Imaging Laboratory of the Psychiatric Institute of the Faculty of Medicine, São Paulo, in a research project on “Emotional disturbances provoked by traumatic and vascular injury of the frontal lobe. Investigation and evaluation by fMRI”. It is hoped that this work could help initiate other research projects using neuroimaging methodology, to validate some clinical neuropsychoanalytical observational hypothesis.
Several members of the group are taking part in international and national events presenting papers on Neuro-Psychoanalysis, and the correlations between neuroscience and psychoanalysis, as well as relating it to psychotherapy and psychosomatics. Other members are doing postgraduate studies or attend doctoral programs in Neuroscience and Neuropsychology, in order to be able to participate more effectively in the research we hope for in the future.
The members of the Board will attend the III International Conference of Neuro-psychoanalysis, September 2002, in Stockholm.
