The study group on Brain Science and Psychoanalysis, a joint program of the Washington Psychoanalytic Institute and the Baltimore—Washington Institute, has just completed three years of monthly meetings. During this time, we have explored widely via journal articles and books, as well as videotapes of Mark Solms's lectures. We now anticipate narrowing down our focus to study in greater depth the topic of Development of Affect—that is, the development of brain structures and functions related to affect, as well as the intersection of neuroscience with analytic developmental theory. The group is open to members and candidates of both institutes, as well as interested individuals from other disciplines.
