In June 2005 a decision was made at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in Warsaw to initiate monthly seminars on neuro-psychoanalysis. We plan to do research on schizophrenia based on an integration of the patients’ subjective view on pharmacotherapy with antipsychotic drugs and Shitij Kapur's theory of psychosis as a state of aberrant salience. Some papers dealing with antipsychotic treatment from a psychoanalytic perspective have been published in scientific journals in Poland (abstracts are available on MEDLINE), and a clinical paper based on Kapur's theory of psychosis in relation to psychoanalysis was published in Polish Psychiatry (2005, 39: 315-325).
Reports from the first conference in London in 2000, where the Neuro-Psychoanalysis Society was established, had already been published in Polish Psychiatry and in a journal for psychoanalytic psychotherapists, Dialogues. Reviews of Solms & Turnbull's The Brain and the Inner World (2002) were published in the most important Polish journals, Polish Psychiatry ( 5: 2003) and Psychotherapy ( 4: 2003). A review of one chapter of the book was also published on the internet domain for psychiatrists (). On 16 March 2005, Dr. Turnbull gave a lecture at the 7th Cracow Psychoanalytic Symposium on his research in neuro-psychoanalysis.
