This issue's Target Article, by Ing-Mari Tallberg, is on linguistic aspects of confabulation, in patients with dementia. As usual, the article is followed by a set of commentaries by neuroscientists and psychoanalysts, who discuss various aspects of the article and also comment on larger theoretical questions.
In the Original Articles section, we publish four new articles: one by Norman Holland on laughter across species; one by Kobi Tiberg on the use of the Thematic Apperception Test in patients with right-hemisphere lesions; one by Mona Tondowski and colleagues on emotional experience in anosognosia; and, finally, one by Calvin Kai-Ching Yu on loss of dreaming after frontal-lobe lesions.
Also, we introduce a new section, entitled Clinical Reports. Our intention is to use this space for material that has a more clinical flavor, including brief accounts of work with patients using a more descriptive style. Our first article in this new section is by Mark Blechner and is a report of a small series of patients with panic disorder, considered in the light of existing accounts of the neurobiology of the phenomenon. We hope that this new section will diversify the sort of empirical material that we publish, and we would like to encourage submissions to this new facet of the journal.
As always, the issue ends with the Book Review, Research Digest, and International Bulletin sections. In this issue we offer a warm welcome to the new arrivals on our team: Peter Freed (in the Research Digest) and Maggie Zellner (in the International Bulletin).
