This issue marks a transition in the editorial history of this journal, as Yoram Yovell stands down from his Editorial position. Yoram has been an Associate Editor since the 2002 issue and then Co-Editor since 2005. He has played a central role in the journal during this time, not only in dealing with the huge amount of work associated with organizing the Target Articles in each issue, but more generally in shaping editorial policy. In addition, he has often stepped in to deal with situations that were both “politically” and/or interpersonally difficult: situations that (I am acutely aware) arise all too often for those with editorial responsibilities. I am (and we should all be) deeply grateful to Yoram for his work with the journal during this time, and we are delighted that he will still remain associated with the journal, as he joins our Editorial Policy Committee.
Yoram's Editorial position will be taken by David Olds. David has been associated with the journal from its beginnings and was on the Editorial Board when the journal was founded in 1999. As many of our readers will know, David is a Psychiatrist at Columbia University in New York and a Training Psychoanalyst at the Colombia Psychoanalytic Center and the Berkshire Psychoanalytic Institute. He has had a long-term interest in integrating psychoanalysis with other disciplines and has written a number of important papers relating psychoanalysis to semiotics, neuroscience, and evolutionary psychology. David will have primary responsibility for the Target Articles in each issue. He is eminently qualified for this editorial work, though he is probably unaware of the magnitude of the task he has signed up for! On behalf of the entire journal team, we wish him all the best in his new role.
