In addition to the regular activities of the Israeli Forum, we have formed a group focusing on the neuropsychoanalytic aspects of human development. All members of the group have special experience in working with children and infants, as movement and art therapists, psychiatrists, and psychologists.
The group has been meeting on a regular basis since February 2008. During this time we have been studying and discussing fundamental concepts of psychoanalysis, brain functioning, and child development, trying to make connections and integrate ideas from the various fields. This has been done both by reading and discussing scientific literature and by members of the group presenting their expertise.
This past year was dedicated to a systematic study of regulation, as manifested in emotional, motor, and behavioral regulation.
In the upcoming year we intend to present clinical cases and analyze them from the neuropsychoanalytic perspectives we have learned so far. In addition we intend to organize a workshop presenting central issues in developmental psychoanalysis to a wider professional and lay audience.
