An organized series of eleven lectures covering the basic principles of psychiatry was given the psychiatric aides at the Winter Veterans Administration Hospital which brought about an increased interest in psychiatry but little or no noticeable improvement in the personal relationship of the aides to their patients. This was found to be due to the lack of intimate discussion groups in which the aide could be given more simple and direct insight correlating theory with practice.
