Abstract

Electroshock resembles an overwhelming assault, aggressive or sexual. It requires little contact of therapist with patient, and has a magical ritualistic quality. For these reasons it can be used to satisfy the needs of therapists burdened with certain unresolved, unconscious conflicts.
