Several adults aged eighteen to twenty-seven years and socially and intellectually equal to children aged five to ten years met weekly for thirty two-hour sessions. They learned to tolerate social anxiety and achieve greater awareness of self and of social development by means of simple group activities and some use of speech. This treatment for retardates improves their relationships and makes them more realistically aware of their handicaps.
