In a somewhat unorthodox but rather refreshing presentation, Inman describes a young childless woman who suffered from six distinct bouts of scleritis, each of which persisted for virtually nine months. Without going into much corroborative genetic or dynamic detail, he infers that this symptom was a somatic manifestation of her otherwise frustrated wish to bear children.
