Garma analyzes the meaning of these mythological and social symbols. The feathers and wings, because of their erectile and mobile properties, are a symbolic penis. The slow curved configurations refer to the testicles. In the religious rituals associated with these symbols, anal and urethral functions are represented by the gods of wind and rain. These anal meanings occur in some of the old Russian psalters; a universal meaning seems to be implied in this symbolism. Anal regressive concepts play a part in its formation.
