Abstract

Hart presents two cases showing the mother's need for self-fulfilment in her son which contributed to 'almost insoluble Oedipal conflicts' in the son. The sons of such women are 'driven into passive homosexual longings through identification with the narcissistic mother, and her unconscious incestuous role as the sexual object'.
