During the latency period there are two types of schizophrenia. The first is early paranoid schizophrenia with strong bisexuality, strong fear of powerful unconscious homosexual impulses, and an attempt to solve the conflict by use of paranoid mechanisms. This conflict and its solution can occur only after the Oedipus conflict has been repressed and the superego has developed. The condition sets in after the early part of the latency period has passed. The second type should be labeled a preparanoid schizophrenia. It occurs more often in
