This article is restricted to a discussion of books written in English by authors who had been patients in mental hospitals, the content of the books being frankly autobiographical and devoted primarily to a description of mental illness or mental hospitals. Narrowed though the subject matter is, the article adds a valuable bibliography, some not previously noted. It is highly recommended to those especially interested in pathobiography and bibliotherapy.
