The author reviews the literature on voyeurism and discusses its psychodynamics. He convincingly stresses the aggression contained in the perversion and the part played by forbiddenness. The aggression in particular counters the popular idea of the passivity of the perversion. Of special interest is the fact that several of the eight clinical examples cited progressed to attempted rape or murder, arson, and burglaries, debunking the common view that voyeurs are harmless lookers.
