A Special Fiftieth Anniversary Biennial Conference of the FAMILY SERVICE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA will take place November 12-15, 1961, at the Hotel Commodore, New York City. It is expected that key members of the Kennedy administration, psychiatrists, social workers, anthropologists, and sociologists will participate. A second event makes 1961 a particularly noteworthy year for Family Service: the one hundredth anniversary of the birth of Mary E. Richmond, a pioneer in the theory and practice of casework, and author of Social Diagnosis, published in 1917 by the Russell Sage Foundation.
