The author emphasizes not only abreaction of traumatic events but also the importance of systematic analysis and symptom interpretation. He also stresses the value of including the mother in the intensive treatment of very young children; the mother can re-enforce many of the interpretations and also adjust her educational activities at home to the analytic effort.
