Hesse and Jung: Two Newly Recovered Letters. Benjamin Nelson. Pp. 361-366.
The article by Hesse, the German poet-novelist, pays tribute to psychoanalysis but also expresses doubt about the utility of this psychology to the artist. He states that Otto Rank was the first to discover a pre-freudian description of the unconscious in Schiller's letter to Korner. In the newly recovered letters, Hesse states that the works of Jung did not make as strong an impression on him as did the works of Freud.
