Illustrative case material documents the initiation of the psychotherapeutic process with psychotic adolescents. An attempt is made to relate the opening movements of the psychotherapist to predictive assumptions (derived from the psychiatric work-up) about the adolescent's opening movements in therapy and the psychotherapist's strategy.
