Abstract

The authors describe a small pilot program in the use of selected high school near dropouts as tutors for young children. In their relationships with the children they tutored, with their peers, and with their supervisors, these adolescents were able to attain a degree of personal and educational mastery by turning a passive unsuccessful experience into an active productive one.
