Zellermayer discusses the incomplete formation of the function of responsibility at the conclusion of adolescence. The intentional aspect of responsibility, the theoretical dilemma between this constituent of responsibility and scientific determinism, the nature of human action and its essential relation to psychotemporal elements are considered. The role of psychotemporality, its genetic and structural aspects, its relation to guilt and self-regard and to active mastery are discussed and related to ego and self-autonomy, which provide the psychic matrix out of which responsible action can emerge.
