Analytically oriented group and individual therapy, intended to provide inmates of an institution for recidivists with counseling on a voluntary basis, requires that a "free zone" be set aside for this purpose within the prison. Whether the minimal conditions formulated here are realized serves as a useful criterion for the earnestness of intentions to humanize penal institutions.
