The title comes from Clancier's associations to the somnambulistic aspect of certain characters in the novels of Marguerite Duras. She examines the relationship
between orgasm and the sublimation involved in creative activity. She suggests that these creative activities are experiences at an unconscious fantasy level of identification with the creative powers of the parents. It is important that the fantasies of participation in the primal scene not be experienced as destructive, for then there may be severe inhibition in creative ability. If the individual is able to introject good parental imagoes, to know nondestructive love, he or she may be able to use these fantasies creatively.
