During an analytic hour with a fifteen-year-old boy, Harrison thought of a passage in Wordsworth's The Prelude. She quotes the thirty-two line passage. Analyzing it for herself, she infers a large structure of meanings. She then relates those inferred meanings to her understanding of the patient's communications. This process enabled her to modify in certain ways her proceedings with the patient.
