This paper is a companion to the above, and describes the first practical step in developing the Scale of Psychological Capacities (SPC) which is geared toward detecting basic changes in personality structure. Besides describing the process of defining the set of seventeen psychological capacities and constructing thirty-eight Scales of Psychological Capacities, it also presents the results of a study to assess the "content validity" of these scales. This latter study was conducted through questionnaires sent out to theoreticians of various schools of psychoanalysis. They were asked to rate the comprehensiveness of the set of capacities, the importance they would assign to each, as well as to review specific scales and to suggest additional capacities they though should be included. As a result, a number of changes were made and the list was grouped into 1) attributes of self, and 2) relations to others. The revised list appears in the Appendix. The next step for this research is to design a semistructured interview for use in gathering information.
