This paper illustrates some of the ways in which money and its meanings are important in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. In American culture candid discussion of money is constrained and converges with individual meanings. Krueger uses clinical vignettes to describe money as symbol and as reality, as well as developmental models and identification involving money. He examines phobias of success (including fear of autonomy, fear of wealth, and fear of risk) and addiction to the acquisition of money.
