When Henry David Thoreau left Walden Pond he knew that it was time to move on. Psychoanalytic Books has been our Walden Pond—a place of exploration, enjoyment, and adventure—and, like Thoreau, we know that it is time for us to move on.
With this issue, Psychoanalytic Books concludes ten years of not just publishing book reviews, but exploring and exchanging ideas with our reviewers and readers, taking on a variety of challenges both exciting and mundane, learning at every step of the way—and, above all, enjoying the process.
We are proud of our achievement, having published well over 1,000 major book reviews, several hundred brief reviews, and listed countless books as received. We have witnessed, and hopefully contributed to the recording of the creativity that has marked the psychoanalytic movement during this last decade of the 20th century.
Our gratitude is to our readers, to our splendid reviewers, and to a supportive and dedicated editorial board. It has been a particular point of pleasure for us that, for many reviewers, Psychoanalytic Books was the beginning of a successful journey toward writing papers and books. We are indebted to the many publishers who generously sent books for review and we are proud that so frequently our book reviews have been excerpted in publishers' catalogues.
Our love of books and the intellectual adventure that they provide is undiminished. It is time for us to leave our Walden Pond.
