This paper is a discussion of my own personal engagement with psychoanalysis and politics and political activism and the way in which they may, or may not fit together or converge. It is also about moving on and the way in which psychoanalytic ideas have increasingly played a more prominent role in both my research and writing. Ultimately I argue, that it is my own analysis that has allowed this greater integration of the personal and political, psychoanalysis and politics - we must learn to enjoy our internal and external conflicts; it is only when we are afraid of them that our troubles begin.
