Capitalist realism and its psycho-social dimensions

John Birdis a recently retired Reader in Sociology, Department of Sociology, University of the West of England, Bristol. His current research interests include pedagogic innovation; visual pedagogies for undergraduates and post-graduates; psycho-social approaches to discrimination; testing the ‘slow cancellation of the future’ thesis; social media as a device to improve engagement; and the attendance and performance of university students.

David Greenis Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Department of Sociology, University of the West of England, Bristol. His research interests include visual pedagogies and the use of visuals as a ways to disseminate research. His fields of teaching include visual cultures, transgressions and several contributions to first year Sociology teaching.
