This counterspace piece is a creative engagement of Charles Darwin’s [Mind: Q Rev Psychol Philos 2(7):285–294, 1877] article “A Biographical Sketch of an Infant”. In short vignettes of prose and poetry, the piece proceeds by rearranging Darwin’s paper, paying specific attention to its observational register and use of figures.
