With the publication of Stuart Pizer's paper “Impasse Recollected in Tranquility: Love, Dissociation, and Discipline in the Analytic Process,” the editors of Psychoanalytic Dialogues have decided to try something new and different. It has been our custom to accept papers for the journal based on a peer-review system; however, we have always solicited and invited discussants whom we believed had a certain expertise in a given area of interest. In our ongoing efforts to encourage new authors and to discover new “voices,” we are inviting our readership to submit questions on or brief discussions of Dr. Pizer's paper. Toward this end we are publishing this clinically and theoretically rich paper without any invited commentary. It is our hope that submitting a brief discussion might be an easier “first step” in the writing process than creating and submitting an entire article. Of course we cannot promise to publish all of the discussions we receive, but we hope to publish many of them in an upcoming issue. Dr. Pizer will respond to these discussions in that same issue.
All submissions should be no longer than three double-spaced pages and should be received by Psychoanalytic Dialogues no later than September 10, 2004. Please start writing; we want to hear what you have to say. We need you!
